Chapter 40 (gastroenteritis)

The doctor walked in and Winnie wiped her eyes, "Are you two the parents of Arista Sarantakos?"

Criss looked at the doctor and stood up, "Yes".

"Well we ran some tests and it seems that your daughter has contracted gastroenteritis, also known as the stomach flu. She's in room 203 you can take her home today. Your daughter seems to be in a lot of pain so I'm going to prescribe a low dosage of Oxycodone, and I am going to have a nurse stop by her room and give you a list of stomach flu do's and don'ts".

"Thank you Doctor", Criss said in a low tone.

"Don't worry about it", the doctor said before handing Criss the prescription and leaving.

Criss turned to Winnie, "See she's going to be fine Pooh Bear".

"You weren't there with her. You didn't see what she was going through. It's hard for me as a mother to see her go through something like that".

Criss knelt down and grabbed Winnie's hands, "Look at me she's going to be just fine. We can get her back to her perky little self. Now come on let's go get her and bring her home.

Winnie stood up, "Thank you".

"Well she's my daughter too. There's not much I can help with but I will help out with as much as I can".

Winnie gave him a hug before walking down the hall way. She wished that she could be the one experiencing all of this pain instead of Arista. When she walked into the room she saw her little girl showing the nurse a magic trick. In that moment she saw the strength that she wished she had.

Criss looked over at Arista and smiled because that moment also conveyed something to him. He saw so much of himself in her, which also terrified him. He had never been so scared in his whole life, and he didn't want to experience this feeling again. He also realized that this was what everybody else felt when he did all of the crazy things that he did.

"Hi mommy hi daddy" Arista said as she finished the trick.

Criss reciprocated, "Hi Aristacat".

"How are you feeling?" Winnie asked.

"Not very good, but Mrs. Winkler says that I will feel better".

The nurse Mrs. Winkler walked over to Winnie and handed her something, "Here is a list of what to do and what not to do".

"Thank you".

"My pleasure", Mrs. Winkler turned to Arista, "You listen to your mommy and daddy and you will be feeling better in no time".

"Ok".

Criss looked at her, "Get dressed and we'll take you home".

"Ok", Arista got back into her pajamas.

Criss carried her to the Car and stayed with her as Winnie walked into the local pharmacy. The three of them waited in the parking lot as they waited for the medicine to be ready. Arista fell asleep with a bottle of water beside her as Winnie and Criss talked.

"So I think I am going to forgo filming for today".

"Criss you don't have to".

"Winnie she's my daughter and I wanna help you take care of her".

"You really don't need to. She's going to be sleeping most of the time".

"Winnie I…"

"Criss you have a job to do. She is going to be fine you can help out later if you really feel the need to".

Criss looked down, "Is there anything else that we need to get her?"

"Yeah we need to stock up on lots of liquids and broths".

"No solids?"

"Solids come if she can keep liquids down".

"Right".

"I'm going to go inside and get what she needs".

Criss reached into his pocket and handed her his wallet, "Here you go".

"I won't deny you helping me here".

Criss smiled as he watched Winnie walk back into the drug store. He looked back at Arista, asleep in her car seat. He climbed into the backseat next to her, carefully took her out of her car seat so that he didn't wake her, and held her.

Chapter 41 (Moony)

When Winnie walked into the drugstore the first thing that she went for was the chicken broth. After stocking up on the broth she went for chicken noodle soup. After which she walked up to the pharmacy to see if the prescription was ready.

After checking out she saw a rather touching scene, Criss had fallen asleep holding Arista. Winnie didn't want to wake them before capturing a picture with her phone, this is one for the books, she thought as she took the picture. "Christopher wake up, we have to go".

"Oh ouch my neck", Criss reached over and carefully set Arista back into her car seat. "Alright we're off.

When they got to the suite Criss carried Arista and Winnie carried the bags, "Why don't you just set her in her room".

"Ok", Criss put Arista under the covers and returned to the front room. "I'm going to go back to the production office".

"Ok I'll see you tonight", Winnie turned around as Criss walked out the door.

Criss walked into the production office and was mobbed by people wanting to know how Arista was doing. "She is going to be fine she just has a case of the stomach flu is all. Well we have to get back to filming so let's do this".

Meanwhile up in the suite Winnie decided to call up her old roommate Lindsay to update her with some wedding news, "Hey Moony".

"Ellie May I've never quite figured out why you gave me that name".

"You know how in Harry Potter there is that character that can change into a wolf?"

"Yeah".

"Well his nickname is Moony. And you love wolves, so your nickname is Moony".

"Oh, well how are things going over there?"

"Well Arista has the stomach flu, but she is going to be fine. And Criss and I have set a date…sort of".

"How do you sort of set a wedding date?"

"Well we have to see when we can book the where?"

"What is the where?"

"Criss' show's theater hopefully".

"Really?"

"Yeah I saw the show the other night and it all just came to me. By the way I have a question to ask you".

"Ask away".

"Would you be my maid of honor?"

"Oh Winnie I would love to".

"That's fantastic".

"So are you going to give me all these assignments?"

"Just a few, and I might need you to come down here".

"What for?"

"Well if I just take his mom out with me it would be kind of aquard considering what happened".

"Oh ok, when do you want me to come down?"

"I'll call you when Arista feels better".

"Got anything for me to do in the mean time?"

"I was wondering if the diner could cater my reception".

"I'll ask Earl, though I'm sure he won't mind".

"Thank you", Winnie could hear Arista calling for her in the background. "I have to go Arista she needs me".

"Alright call me when things get better for her".

"Bye Moony".

"Bye Ellie May".

Chapter 42 (The Menu)

Arista always had a brave face on, but Winnie could tell that she was in constant pain. So she gave Arista the Oxycodone as often as possible to at the very least reduce the pain. Criss hated feeling like a bystander when his daughter was in pain, so he disobeyed Winnie by being there off and on to help in any way possible.

While Arista was sleeping Winnie decided to get some wedding planning started by taking to the phones. "Hello, is this Felix Rappaport? Hi this is Winnie Criss' fiancé I was wondering if for our wedding it would be possible for us to get married in BeLIEve's theater? Oh no I'm not going to want to do anything too big as far decoration, the theater is magnificent as it is; just some roses here and there. Ok I will most certainly do that. Thank you for your time". Winnie hung up the phone and immediately called Criss, "Hey I just talked to Felix about the theater and he said that we would need to talk to Guy and see if it was ok with him, and then we will need to call him back. So, I was wondering if you could talk to him because he knows you. Thank you sweetheart I'll see you later. Love you too".

When Criss could find the time to he called Guy, "Guy this is Criss. Oh I'm fine how are you? That's good. Listen I just recently got engaged and my fiancé and I were wondering if we could get married in BeLIEves Theater? She already talked to him and he said to call you. Thank you we appreciate it". Criss hung up the phone and called Felix himself, "Hey Felix this is Criss, my fiancé called you earlier about the theater. Yes well I just talked to Guy and he said that we could use it. Alright I'll tell her. Thank you".

Winnie had just gotten done checking up on Arista when she heard the phone ring, "Hello. You did! Thank you baby thank you. I love you". After she hung up the phone she started to do her happy dance which consisted of jumping up and down and doing some disco moves. She was so happy to hear that she was going to be able to get married on the day that she and Criss met all those years ago.

After they were able to acquire the where Winnie had to talk to JD and Lynn to see if they were going to be willing to host the reception. At first JD was reluctant, but to Winnie's delight Lynn has a tight hold on JD.

That night when Criss got home he found Winnie sitting on the couch watching TV and holding a sleeping Arista, "How is she?"

"She's getting there".

"Here let me take her to her room", Criss said as he picked Arista up and carefully laid her in her bed. When he walked back out he saw that the TV was off and Winnie was nowhere to be seen, so he walked into the bedroom and saw her getting into her pajamas and decided to do the same. After they climbed into bed Criss looked at Winnie, "Why don't you get out and go somewhere tomorrow?"

"Because Arista's still sick".

"Well I will take a day and watch her so that you can get out".

"I don't know Criss".

"C'mon you can trust me. Give me a chance".

Winnie sighed, "Alright". Criss kissed her on the forehead before drifting off to sleep.

Winnie decided that she was going to drive back to Henderson in Criss' SUV with Dimitra and Lynn to meet Lindsay and Mr. Earl Baker at the diner to go over the menu for the reception.

Lynn, who was sitting in the backseat, leaned forward, "You sent the save the dates right?"

"Yeah one day when Criss stopped by to help take care of Arista I took the time to go to a bridal shop and had them customized. The shop said that they should be mailed within a couple of days".

Dimitra looked at Winnie, "I didn't know that they mail them for you".

"They do as long as you pay extra".

"Well how convenient", Dimitra said.

"Oh we're here", Winnie said as she pulled into the parking lot of the diner.

Dimitra looked out the windshield, "So this is The Hot Rod".

"The outside looks great, I hope the inside doesn't disappoint", Lynn said as she was getting out the car.

"Oh it doesn't, trust me", Winnie had a smile on her face as she got out.

She spotted Lindsay and Earl at the bar of the empty diner, "Hey guys". She walked up to the both of them behind the bar and gave them both a hug, "It is really nice of you guys to close the restaurant early

Earl responded first, "Anything for you Miss Winnie".

"Awe, so do you have something for us?"

"Yes I decided o use the diners menu as a foundation and just build off of it in order to make the food more wedding reception worthy. I hope that's ok".

"Well we will just have to see now wont we", Winnie said as she took a seat at the bar.

"Ok so first we have a sample steaks cooked with different homemade sauces. The first one has Dr. Pepper sauce, the second one has what I call a seafood sauce, and the third one is covered in honey and breaded with potato chips".

Winnie licked her lips, "I can't choose they are all so delicious".

"Yeah what are in the other two?" Lindsay asked.

"Well in the first one you have a mixture of BBQ sauce and Dr. Pepper and the second one is linguini sauce, shrimp, and oysters".

"Earl I was wondering if we can have all three so that people can have a choice?" Winnie asked

"I can do that. Now on to side dishes. Here we have glazed asparagus, mashed red potatoes, baked sweet potatoes, beans with molasses and honey, the basic mac 'n cheese, Texas steak fries, cooked veggies, cream corn, and chilies cheese fries with bacon bits and ranch dressing".

Lynn looked at him, "You said that these aren't on the menu, right?"

"Right".

"Why not they are awesome".

Dimitra nodded her head, "I agree".

"Guys you should really add these to the menu", Winnie agreed.

"Yeah Earl you have been stiffing our customers", Lindsay made a sour face.

"What do you have for the kids?" Lynn asked

"Oh chicken breasts cut into nuggets rubbed with honey and breaded with potato chips".

"Yum I know that my Arista will love that".

"Now we have cheesy bread and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers".

Winnie smiled, "you have out done yourself Earl".

"Thank you Miss Winnie. Ok since I am not the best at baking I have compiled a list of bakeries that make wedding cakes in Vegas".

"Thank you Earl, when it gets closer to the wedding I will give you the orders so that you can add up the cost of supplies and I will pay you".

"Ok".

"I hate that we have to leave, but we have to go shopping for dresses", Winnie said as she walked behind the counter to give him a hug. "I'll see you at the reception".

"See you at the reception".

All of the girls loaded into the SUV and headed back to Vegas.
